Pete Smith: Stein's Law

January 19 - March 29, 2020

Visual Arts Centre of Clarington

Pete Smith is an artist, critic and curator who lives in Bowmanville, ON. Smith’s painting practice often reflects his interests, concerns, and experiences. His solo exhibition shows a series of recent paintings that explore notions of climate change, pollution, urbanization, domesticity, light and darkness. The exhibition titled Stein’s Law, references the popular American economist’s theory, that if something cannot go forever, it will stop, and poses questions about sustainability in our current economic models. The exhibition includes works of local abandoned sites in the Clarington region shown at the VAC galleries as well as the Clarington Town Hall and Public Library.
